Management Training At Mapfre

Updated: Aug 7

MAPFRE, a leading insurance provider, recognised the need to invest in their next generation of managers. As they navigated a dynamic industry landscape, they knew that technical competence wasn’t enough—emotional intelligence, adaptive communication, and clear decision-making were becoming non-negotiable for sustainable leadership.

Mapfre

In collaboration with MISCO, I was invited to design and deliver a bespoke Management Bootcamp to one of their subsidiaries to develop these soft-but-crucial capacities. The bootcamp aimed to:

  • Equip new and potential managers with core leadership skills

  • Embed emotional intelligence as the foundation for decision-making and communication

  • Translate self-awareness into real-time interpersonal effectiveness.

Delivering Management Training

I structured the training around four pillars—Emotional Intelligence, Effective Communication, Delegation & Decision Making with emotional intelligence as the systemic centre which included.

  • Metaphor Work: using metaphors that support next level thinking & awareness.

  • Personal Assessments: providing assessments that support self reflection.

  • Case Study Work: using case study to better learn how these can be applied in practice.

  • Practical Applications: discussions on how to apply lessons in personal work.

Impact & Feedback:

Rather than lecturing theory, the experience was deeply experiential, using metaphors, group dynamics, and reflective prompts to help participants integrate what they learned. Managers:

  • Reported a increase in self-awareness and confidence in difficult conversations.

  • Managers felt more equipped to “step back and read the room.”

  • MISCO highlighted the greater insight into what makes great leaders.

Why It Matters:

In today’s business climate, leadership without emotional intelligence is like sailing without a compass. This bootcamp didn’t just train people—it rewired how they show up in conversations, how they hold tension, and how they connect vision to voice.
