In May 2025 I was engaged by MISCO to give an training on developing team cohesion and workplace environment health to Inspire Foundation Malta.

Front liners are often the first point of contact between an organization and its clients. Despite their critical role, many face high stress, burnout, and communication barriers within their teams. These issues can lead to decreased job satisfaction, lower productivity, and compromised service quality.
1. Reason For Engagement: Develop Team Cohesion
Inspire Foundation, a leading Maltese NGO supporting individuals with disabilities, identified wanted to strengthen team cohesion and cultural sensitivity among its frontline staff. With a diverse team, the organization sought to enhance interpersonal relationships and foster an inclusive work environment. To address this, MISCO engaged me to design and deliver a tailored Team Clinic session for the employees of one of their programs.
2. Outcome Sought: Improve Cultural Sensitivity
Inspire Foundation sought enhanced team cohesion, improved communication skills, and increased overall well-being among participants during the clinic sessions. The primary objectives were to:
Enhance understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity within the team.
Improve communication and collaboration among team members.
Foster a cohesive team environment that supports mutual respect and inclusivity.
Equip staff with practical tools to navigate cultural differences effectively in their daily interactions
3. Content Design: A Fun & Meaningful Event
The training program was meticulously crafted to address the specific needs of Inspire's frontline staff. We sought to offer fun team activities that leads towards better team relationships. Key components included:
Interactive Team-Building Activities: Exercises designed to strengthen interpersonal relationships and trust among team members.
Inter-Cultural Relationship Building: Sessions aimed at increasing bonding between people of different cultural norms, values, and communication styles.
Communication Skills Training: Modules focused on active listening, empathy, and effective communication strategies.
Role-Playing: using role-playing we worked towards gaining awareness of difficult issues and processing them better.
4. The Delivery: Onsite Training
The session was conducted as a half day interactive sessions with lunch provided by Inspire The first half was devoted to activities that foster collaboration and process challenges. Whilst the second half was organised to enjoy some fun time doing a treasure hunt.
5. The Impact: Better Understanding
Post-training evaluations indicated a significant positive shift in team dynamics. Participants and management realised that, like any organisation, management team and staff need to learn to see each other better and learn from each other.
6. Lessons Learned: Practical Takeaways for Readers
The training underscored the importance of continuous learning and open communication in fostering an inclusive work environment. It highlighted that cultural sensitivity is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing process that requires commitment and practice.
7. Conclusion & Call to Action
Training sessions like this are transformative experiences that could shape the way your team collaborates and leads. By investing in team development training, you can cultivate stronger leaders, more engaged employees, and a workplace culture that thrives on trust and openness.
